Third Screen Film Festival brings Emerging Filmmakers to Hollywood Gatekeepers. Now in its fourth year, our venerable online festival brings content creators the opportunity to have their work seen by key Hollywood executives and their peers. The competition invites digital submissions of fifteen minutes or less, and takes place in two semi-final rounds and one final round. The Semi-final round winners will advance into the Final Round.
There are winners in each of 4 categories this year, as well as an Audience Choice Award. The categories are Live Action Drama, Live Action Comedy, Animation, and Webisodes. Films are judged by our panel of Judges and fans using a weighted average that favors the number of votes over the score.
Finalists will be evaluated by our esteemed Judges who will pick a winner in each category, except for the Audience Choice Award that will be chosen by our on-line community.
Our Judges include David Gale (MTV), Navid McIlhargey (New Regency), Paul Alan Smith (ICM) and many other successful and committed Entertainment Professionals - including new Judges Casey Bloys (HBO), Robert Reisenberg (Full Circle Entertainment), and David Hudson (TNT). Prizes will be determined soon but in previous years they included $5,000 dollar and $10,000 dollar Audience Choice Award winners.
Recent Third Screen winners have gone on to produce films & television series, get paid to produce videos for "Funny or Die", & "Upright Citizen's Brigade", even write for "the Huffington Post", & The Jimmy Kimmel show - not to mention securing meetings and development deals with our Third Screen Judges and Community.
Headquartered at the historic Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, winners will be able to vote on their favorite films online at www.thirdscreenfilmfestival.com and on their mobile devices through the WAP site at mobile.thirdscreenfimfestival.com.
The first round will start on November 25th and end on January 22nd. The second round will start on January 25th and end on April 9th. The winners from both semi-final rounds will then advance to the final round, which will start on April 12th and end on May 6th.
This year the program will grow to include the opportunity to learn from industry leaders at several TSFF panels, each constructed to share information, provide access and create networking opportunities for our participants. To kick off year four, the first panel will take place Wednesday, December 2nd, at Raleigh Studios in the fabulous Chaplin Theatre. Please be our guest for Storytelling for the Third Screen: What’s Different, What’s Working and How Do You Make Money. This seminar will be moderated by Jay Baage from digitalmediawire, and will end with a case study of the Ikea/Ileana Douglas web series "Employee of the Year". Panelists include John Heinsen (Vice Chair of the New Media Council of the PGA), Daniel Tibbets (Go Networks) and Gigi Johnson (UCLA).
Participants will receive bi-weekly festival updates. Last year we received over 4 million votes on-line with a membership community of over 5000 people. Please help us double our numbers as we seek to continue to provide access and opportunities for the most talented filmmakers.
