The Third Screen Film Festival with lead sponsor A&E Independent Films announced the call for entries for the annual Third Screen Film Festival on May 5th, 2008. Headquartered at the historic Raleigh Studios in Hollywood and located on-line at www.thirdscreenfilmfestival.com and on A&E at www.AETV.com/indiefilms, Third Screen Film Festival is a broadband and mobile festival that highlights the work of short-form filmmakers.
The Third Screen Film Festival will be distributed through A&E's on-line and mobile platforms, as well as through NanoTV, which is viewed on MSOTV wireless and their well–known cable outlets, reaching millions of movie lovers. Viewers will be able to vote on their favorite films online at www.thirdscreenfilmfestival.com and on their mobile devices through A&E's mobile/WAP site at mobile.aetv.com.
Filmmakers will submit their films in 2 semi-final rounds. The first round will start on May 5th and end on July 11th. The second round will start on July 12th and will end on September 26th. Fillmmakers can continue to submit their films for judges' review as well as for consideration for future Third Screen events to begin in November. Viewers will vote on their favorites in each round. The winners from both semi-final rounds will then advance to the final round, where the on-line community will pick the audience winner, and a panel of distinguished industry insiders will pick the jury prize.
This year's panel of judges include top executives, producers, and content developers from some of the most recognizable companies in the world. A celebration and screening will take place on October 30th at Hollywood's venerable Cinespace to announce the 2008 Third Screen Film Festival winners. The audience winner will win $5000 and the Jury Prize Winner will have a chance to meet top development executives at A&E IndieFilms.
